Agent's
Licence
British Columbia requires:
- independent liquor agents who promote and sell products from
a variety of liquor manufacturers to apply for an agent's licence, and
- BC liquor manufacturers who want to sell their products off-site
to apply for an agent's licence in addition to their manufacturer's licence (they may sell on-site without a separate
agent's licence; please see our section on the Manufacturer's Licence (Wineries,
Breweries and Distilleries) for more information about the manufacturer's licence).
A manufacturer or an independent agent may hire any number of
sales representatives to sell their products. The Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB) no longer requires sales
representatives working for a licensed manufacturer of liquor in British Columbia or working for an agent that imports
liquor into British Columbia for sale within the province, to be registered. Agents or manufacturers who employ sales
representatives must provide their sales representatives with identification establishing them as representatives
and must also ensure that their sales representatives comply with the provincial liquor law.
