Inspections
All licensees are responsible for knowing and following the rules set out in the Liquor Control and Licensing Act and Regulations, and the specific terms and conditions of their licence.
Liquor inspectors conduct regular inspections of licensed premises to make sure licensees are complying with the Act and Regulations, and with the terms and conditions of their licence. These inspections may be unannounced, and at different times and on different days both during, and beyond, the operating hours of an establishment.
The local police also have the authority to inspect your premises at any time. They will look particularly for anything that may lead to a disturbance within the community or that could threaten public safety - including noise, overcrowding, drunkenness and minors in possession of alcohol. If the police think that you are not following the law, they may fill out a Licensed Premises Check (LPC) form describing the problem. They will then provide a copy to you and send another to the branch for follow up. The branch may choose to take further enforcement action as a result of the LPC.
